Features and aims of the courses

 

Our three-year Speech and Language Therapy course will prepare students for a career as speech and language therapists who work for the prevention, assessment and treatment of communication, language and swallowing disorders in patients of all ages. They can work in public and private centres. The course includes 25 integrated modules. 180 CFUs are to be acquired considering that 96 CFUs can be achieved through classroom sessions, 60 CFUs with a vocational placement at private or public rehabilitations centers and 24 CFUs through optional modules, professional laboratories, language and computer modules and thesis preparation. Graduates will have the opportunity to extend their studies and undertake LM/SNT2 master’s courses, and higher-level specialization courses.

  • Propaedeutic sciences (es. Statistics, Physics, Pedagogy)
  • Biomedical science (es. Anatomy, Biochemistry, General pathology, Microbiology)
  • Speech therapy sciences (i.e. Linguistics and Neurolinguistics, Psychology, Audiology and Phoniatry, Pediatrics and Child Neuropsychiatry, Neurology, Neuropsychology, and particularly, Theories and techniques of speech and language therapy)
  • Interdisciplinary Sciences and Health Management

YOUR FUTURE CAREER OPPORTUNITIES

Speech and language therapists can work in multi professional settings dependently or independently in public and private health centres, such as:

  • Rehabilitation centres
  • Healthcare homes
  • Spas
  • Medical practices
  • Service cooperatives
  • At patients’ homes

STRENGTHS OF THE COURSE

The high employability after 1 year from graduation: 90% of the graduates found a job which they have studied for – versus 80% of the graduates in speech therapy in other university; the wide placement network for the vocational education – ratio placement supervisor / student = 1:1; long-standing relationships with international education institutions – our students can carry out a 3-month placement at excellent international health centres under the Erasmus program. The above-mentioned are only a few of the strengths of the course that account for the high satisfaction of the students for the skills and competences acquired. Students can spend 3-month-placements in excellent healthcare facilities.
