The three-year degree course in Management for the sustainable valorisation of Marine Organisations and Resources, currently the only program of its kind at national level, aims to provide innovative, multidisciplinary and functional training for the development of knowledge and skills necessary for the sustainable management of companies and institutions involved in the fisheries and aquaculture supply chain. This includes various sectors related to the production, distribution, processing, sale and use of fish products.
The primary objective of the course is to train professionals with specific multidisciplinary skills, focusing on enhancing both economic-business and legal, as well as biological-environmental competencies, rather than producing generalist professional figures.
From the perspective of content, this course includes basic subjects in the fields of business, economics, law and mathematical-statistical sciences, followed by specialized subjects in the same fields with a clear focus on the specificities of fishing enterprises. It also includes subjects from related areas, , focusing on biological and environmental issues, relevant to fishing methods and technology, aquaculture and the management and conservation of fishery resources. In order to create knowledge and develop comprehension skills, the curriculum incorporates lectures and exercises, case studies, seminars, testimonials, project work and simulations, which also utilize IT tools.
Optional courses, foreign language proficiency at level B2, educational workshops and internship activities with market players, aimed at applying the learned theories and tools, complete the curriculum. The course concludes with the presentation of a final report.
Graduates in Management for the sustainable valorisation of Marine Organisations and Resources possess necessary skills to engage in entrepreneurial activities or to assume managerial and economic-management consultancy roles in both the public and private sectors of the fisheries and aquaculture industry. Graduates are therefore able to apply the relevant concepts, methods, and managerial as well as biological-environmental tools necessary to contribute effectively to the development of companies and to the valorisation of the fisheries sector. Specifically, they are capable of managing the organisational and administrative-financial profiles of fish companies. Additionally, they oversee key processes related to fishing, aquaculture, transportation, and the conservation of fish products.
The course, currently the only one of its kind at national level, offers a strongly multidisciplinary approach. It integrates managerial, economic, legal, and mathematical-statistical skills with the biological-environmental and ecological aspects of fishing and aquaculture. This integration enables students to manage the sustainability of fishing activities comprehensively in economic, social, and environmental terms.
Throughout the three-year program, students will have the opportunity to participate in Erasmus and Campus World projects, as well as benefit from exchange agreements the university has established with foreign universities.
